Maruti Suzuki has been spotted testing the production-ready Fronx Hybrid in India, as new images of this LIDAR-equipped test mule have surfaced online. It carries a big “Hybrid” badge and though it seems to carry over most of the current Fronx’s exterior styling, the addition of LIDAR points toward upgrades for its driver assistance systems (ADAS) included with exterior changes, this Fronx Hybrid is expected to debut Maruti’s new Super Ene-Charge 48V mild-hybrid setup. All these give us hope for an upcoming launch sometime around the early part of 2026.

Hybrid Powertrain And Performance Expectations
The Maruti model will likely carry the Super Ene-Charge 48V setup, most probably with a 1.0-litre as well
as a 1.5-litre petrol engine option. The electric motor will run in parallel with the petrol engine but will not replace it totally. This will give somewhat better fuel efficiency. However, no official figures have been announced yet.
LIDAR And ADAS Features
The LIDAR sensors play a very important role because they are extensively used to develop map-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features. The availability of LIDAR gives a hint that the Fronx Hybrid might come with Level-2 ADAS features which could include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and auto high beam among others. In the meantime, it can be noted that the body and styling especially the overall design is more or less identical to the non-hybrid Fronx model.
What This Means For Launch Timing?
With the test mule now uncamouflaged and showing off functional sensor hardware, a launch looks imminent, maybe even sooner than many thought. Industry sources put its release date at early to mid-2026. At first, this model might only show up in a few variants based on how fast the carmaker can certify all the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) parts.

Maruti Fronx Hybrid: Impact On The Indian Market
Should Maruti launch the Fronx Hybrid with ADAS features and a 48V system, it would be a leap in the sub-4 metre crossover space for India. This hybrid version has all possibility to rewrite consumer sentiments towards fuel efficiency in this segment. Pricing is going to be watched very closely since more technology always means higher prices. What would matter most to potential buyers are the official specs on mileage, performance, and safety features.
