Hyundai India has launched the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift at Rs 55.70 lakh (ex-showroom) with a larger battery and higher range. The key update is the new 84 kWh battery, pushing the claimed range up to 690 km (ARAI), addressing one of the biggest concerns for EV buyers: range and charging frequency. Along with this, the facelift brings feature and tech upgrades while retaining the core design. The update focuses on improving real-world usability rather than changing the overall driving experience or positioning of the electric SUV.
Battery, Range And Charging: What Has Changed
The highlight update is the shift from the earlier 72.6 kWh battery to a larger 84 kWh unit. This increase enables a claimed range of up to 690 km (ARAI), a significant jump over the previous model.
The Ioniq 5 continues
with Hyundai’s 800V electric architecture, which supports ultra-fast charging. Under ideal conditions, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 18 minutes using a high-speed DC charger. This allows quick top-ups, with short charging sessions adding meaningful range for highway use.
The powertrain remains largely unchanged in the India-spec version, continuing with a rear-wheel-drive setup producing around 217 PS and 350 Nm. The focus remains on efficiency and smooth delivery rather than increasing outright performance.
Design, Interior And Feature Updates
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift brings subtle exterior changes, including revised bumpers, updated alloy wheels and minor aerodynamic tweaks. The overall design remains familiar, retaining the pixel-inspired lighting and clean EV styling.
Inside, updates focus on usability. The revised centre console introduces more physical controls, addressing feedback around touchscreen-heavy interfaces. Software updates improve infotainment responsiveness and connectivity while the dual-screen layout continues to handle driver information and media functions. Hyundai has also expanded the ADAS suite and connected car features, aligning the Ioniq 5 with newer premium EVs in terms of safety and technology.

Price, Positioning And Buyer Impact
At Rs 55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the facelifted Ioniq 5 sees a noticeable price increase compared to the outgoing model, reflecting the larger battery and added features.
For Indian buyers, the update is straightforward. The increased range reduces dependency on charging infrastructure especially for intercity travel. Faster charging improves flexibility, making the vehicle more usable beyond city limits.
This update strengthens the Ioniq 5’s position in the premium EV segment. It does not change the core character of the car but improves the aspects that matter most in daily use: range, charging time and in-cabin usability.
