The recent launch of the 2025 Mahindra Bolero facelift has once again proven that owning a rugged 7-seater SUV does not necessarily require one to have deep pockets. The Bolero legacy started over two
decades ago and refuses to die to this day. However, Mahindra is known to build SUVs that defy market norms in terms of 'product life' and the Bolero isn't the only exception.

Just like the Bolero, the Mahindra Scorpio also has over 20 years of legacy and continues to grow to this day. While the Scorpio-N is the latest evolution, the traditional Scorpio Classic continues to bring in good numbers, even three years after the N's launch. Here's a comparison of the Scorpio Classic and the Bolero facelift to help understand which of these affordable and rugged SUVs might be more suitable for you.
1. Scorpio Classic vs Bolero Facelift - Design:
The Scorpio Classic offers larger dimensions and body cladding all around, which gives it a dominating road presence. It also gets projector headlamps, a six-slat grille and roof rails. In terms of shape, the Scorpio Classic has muscular curves and bulges all around.
The Bolero facelift, on the other hand, sticks to its fundamentals with several updates. It has the same rugged and utilitarian silhouette. The new grille and front bumper now feature chrome inserts and fog lamps. It now also features 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels for the new B8 variant and also comes in a new 'Stealth Black' colour.
2. Scorpio Classic vs Bolero Facelift - Engine:
The Scorpio Classic is the more powerful diesel SUV in this comparison. It gets a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged engine that produces 130 hp and 300 Nm of torque and comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
On the other hand, the Bolero gets a 1.5-litre mHawk75, 3-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. The tried and tested motor produces 74.9 hp and 210 Nm of torque, which is delivered via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Between the two diesel SUVs, both engine options offer a proven track record of performance and reliability.
3. Scorpio Classic vs Bolero Facelift - Features:
The rugged and utilitarian nature of these two SUVs does not mean that they are short on attractive features. The Scorpio Classic offers 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels in the S11 variant, LED DRLs, 2nd row AC vents, steering-mounted controls with cruise control and the option of a 9-seater configuration.
The Bolero also has an updated features list in its latest facelift. It now comes with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, steering-mounted audio controls, bottle holders integrated into the door panels, dual front airbags, power windows, remote key lock-unlock, remote fuel lid opener and more.
4. Scorpio Classic vs Bolero Facelift - Features:

The Scorpio Classic, on the other hand, is only available in two S and S11 variants with prices starting from Rs 12.97 lakh ex-showroom and going up to Rs 16.70 lakh ex-showroom. These prices come in after a price drop of over Rs 1 lakh under the new uniform GST rates.
Conclusion:
Between the Scorpio Classic and the Bolero facelift, the fundamental of being a cost-effective, durable 7-seater remains the same. The biggest difference is in the pricing and design.
