In a strong finish to the financial year, Mahindra & Mahindra has reported total vehicle sales of 99,969 units in March 2026, registering 21% growth compared to last year. The biggest contribution came from Mahindra’s Utility Vehicles (SUVs) as the company sold 60,272 SUVs in India in March, marking a solid 25% growth. Including exports, total SUV sales reached 62,109 units.
This highlights that Indian buyers are increasingly choosing SUVs over smaller cars. The reason is that the SUVs offer better road presence, higher seating and the ability to handle rough roads. Popular models like Scorpio-N, XUV700 and Thar have helped Mahindra build strong demand in this segment.
Mahindra also performed well in the commercial vehicle segment, selling 24,928
units in India, up 11% year-on-year. These vehicles include small trucks, pickups, and delivery vans used for business and logistics.

Within this segment, light commercial vehicles between 2 to 3.5 tonnes saw a 13% growth, while smaller vehicles remained stable. Interestingly, three-wheelers, including electric models, saw a sharp 39% jump, showing growing demand for affordable and eco-friendly transport.
March also helped Mahindra close FY2026 on a record note. The company sold 6,60,276 SUVs during the year, a 20% increase, along with 2,89,597 light commercial vehicles, up 13%. These are the highest-ever yearly sales for the company in both categories.

These numbers reflect key market trends as SUVs are becoming the first choice for many buyers. At the same time, strong demand for commercial vehicles shows that business and transport activity remain healthy.
Mahindra’s performance shows that the Indian auto market is changing fast, with SUVs leading the growth. As the company moves into the new financial year, it is well positioned to continue this momentum and stay ahead in the competitive market.
