Vijay, the actor-turned-politician, who recently led his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to a historic victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, arrived at the Lok Bhavan in Chennai in his BMW i7 to meet Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. While the Thalapathy is reported to have a diverse car collection, ranging from mass-market hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift to premium MPVs such as the Toyota Vellfire, opted for BMW’s flagship electric sedan for this high-profile political visit, after securing a massive win with 108 seats in its debut election. While the core design of the i7 is similar to that of the standard 7 series, the EV sets itself apart with some exclusive design cues that speaks about its green identity, such as a closed kidney grille, blue accents around certain elements, and exclusive 'i' badging on the grille, and side skirts, and rear decklid.
The interior of the BMW i7 exudes pure luxury with elegant style, high-end comfort and advanced technology. The electrified sedan comes equipped with a curved glass display integrates a 12.3-inch driver information cluster with a 14.9-inch central infotainment screen for a seamless digital experience. There's a massive 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen for the rear-seat passengers that folds down from the roof and supports Amazon Fire TV, offering a private cinema kind of vibe. From Executive Lounge seating setup with reclinable seats with up to 42.5 degrees of adjustment, to 5.5-inch touchscreens embedded in the door panels, and a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, the sedan offers extensive list of premium amenities.

BMW i7: Powertrain & Price
The i7 in India is available in two trims: eDrive50 M Sport and M70 xDrive. These versions pack a 101.7kWh battery. The i7 eDrive50 M Sport produces 449hp, and uses RWD. Meanwhile, the performance-oriented i7 M70 xDrive offers 650hp and 1,015Nm. It offers a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. Prices for the electric sedan in India start at Rs 2.05 crore (ex-showroom).
