Suzuki SV-7GX Launched Globally - 645cc V-Twin Meets Next-Gen Tech

Suzuki has revived its 645cc V-twin engine, last seen in the discontinued V-Strom 650, inside an all-new middleweight called the SV-7GX, launched globally this month with modern electronics the old bike never had. It's priced from roughly $8,399 in the US and £6,999 in the UK, but Suzuki hasn't announced India pricing or a launch date, so any rupee figure circulating online right now is a guess, not a confirmed number. This matters to Indian riders because the same engine already has a local track record through the V-Strom 650XT, giving some indication of how it might perform here. Here's what the SV-7GX actually offers, and what's still unconfirmed for India.

Suzuki SV-7GX: What Powers It?

The Suzuki SV-7GX uses the familiar 645cc, 90-degree V-twin engine, reworked to meet

Euro 5+ emissions standards, producing around 73 hp and 64 Nm of torque. What's new is the ride-by-wire throttle enabling Suzuki's Intelligent Ride System, which brings selectable riding modes and adjustable traction control to a platform that previously relied on simpler mechanical throttle control. A bi-directional quickshifter is also standard, something the outgoing V-Strom 650 never offered.

Suzuki SV-7GX: What Tech Does It Get?

The old LCD instrument cluster is gone, replaced by a 4.2-inch TFT colour display supporting smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, call and message alerts as well as weather updates. Suzuki has also added an adjustable windscreen, knuckle guards and an integrated rear luggage carrier, positioning the bike for both daily commuting and weekend touring rather than pure sport riding.

A second version, the SV-7GXV, shares every mechanical and electronic component but comes with a more understated Pearl Brilliant White paint scheme and blacked-out chassis parts.

Any Word On India?

Nothing official yet. Suzuki Motorcycle India hasn't confirmed whether or when the SV-7GX will launch locally and price estimates appearing on some websites right now aren't backed by any Suzuki announcement. What's worth noting is that the SV-7GX's core engine already sold here for years in the V-Strom 650XT before that model was discontinued, so riders curious about how this platform holds up on Indian roads already have a reasonable reference point, even without a confirmed local launch.
