Honda Teases New 'Explorer' Elevate Edition - Could This Be India’s Trailsport-Inspired SUV?

Honda has dropped an interesting teaser for a new Elevate variant on its social media channels. The teaser shows the silhouette of the SUV with what appear to be red, or possibly orange, highlights on the bumpers and wheels. The tagline, “For the Explorer in You,” clearly hints at something more rugged, maybe even an off-road-inspired version of the Elevate.

In the US, Honda offers a Trailsport package on models like the CR-V and Passport, featuring suspension tweaks and light off-road upgrades. For India, though, it’s more likely that this “Explorer Edition” will focus on cosmetic updates rather than mechanical ones. Still, even a rugged-looking version of the Elevate would add some excitement to Honda’s lineup.

Honda has been calling this its “boldest move yet,” which suggests there’s more to it than just new paint. From the teaser, we can spot an earthy brown exterior shade with red accents on the front bumper, around the fog lamps, and even on the 17-inch alloy wheels. There’s also a hint of red on the grille and possibly decals on the bonnet, giving it a sporty, adventurous vibe. Expect matching touches inside, maybe an all-black cabin theme with red ambient lighting and stitching, replacing the usual black-and-ivory combo.

If we go by Honda’s previous limited-run editions, such as the Apex Summer Edition, the Explorer Edition might also bring a few exclusive features. The Apex got a larger 9-inch infotainment screen and 360-degree camera setup, so we could see similar feature updates here. Under the hood, the Explorer Edition will continue with the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 119 bhp and 145 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
