Launched with a major update in October 2023, the new Tata Safari continues the legacy of the original Safari which is a name that has been a favorite among Indian SUV fans for over two decades. Power
Under the hood, the new Safari is equipped with a 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine which produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, the same engine that is trusted for its performance and durability in Tata’s premium lineup. It is available in two transmission options which are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Depending on the variant, Safari offers fuel efficiency between 14.1 and 16.3 km/l.
Design
Tata Motors gave the Safari a totally fresh and modern face in its 2023 facelift. From the front, it has connected LED DRLs, the bold bi-LED projector headlamps, and the redesigned bumper that provides it a strong road presence.
From the rear it has stylish connected LED taillamps with dynamic turn indicators that adds a modern touch, while the top-end variants get 19-inch alloy wheels that make the SUV look more muscular and premium.
And if you want something extra-ordinary to stand out, the Safari comes in two special editions— the Dark Edition with an all-black theme and the Stealth Edition, which are available on the top model, featuring an exclusive matte black finish.

Tech-Loaded Interiors

Top variants have ventilated seats in both the first and second rows, soft-touch leatherette upholstery and ambient lighting for a premium cabin vibe.
At the centre of the dashboard you get a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which is paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver display. Music lovers will be amused by the JBL 10-speaker sound system with a subwoofer that delivers concert-like sound quality.
This SUV has a powered tailgate with gesture control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and even voice-assisted dual-zone climate control.

Things to Keep in Mind
While the new Safari is loaded with features, a few points are there to consider:
- It’s front-wheel drive only, so it is not meant for off-roading.
- The manual clutch feels slightly heavy in traffic.
- The third-row seats don’t fold completely flat, limiting boot space when carrying big luggage.
