Mercedes-Benz V-Class: Powertrain And Market Positioning
Mechanically, the India-spec Mercedes-Benz V-Class will most likely mirror the international model. The global-spec model has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, with two variants: 220d and 300d. The former puts out 163 and 380 Nm, whereas the latter produces 237 hp of maximum power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The transmission option on duty is a nine-speed automatic unit. There are both rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive system options on offer.
The new V-Class will be positioned above mass-market MPVs, competing in a niche segment with limited direct rivals such as Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire. Pricing is expected to reflect its imported status and premium positioning.
