The 2026 iteration of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class recently went on sale in India with an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.20 crore. The flagship sedan has received a wide spectrum of upgrades over its predecessor, resulting in a hike of Rs 35 lakh over the previous model's Rs 1.85 lakh starting price. While Mercedes has kept the original stance of the luxury sedan, it has introduced thoughtful changes across the exterior and interior to make it look like a good package for interested enthusiasts. Here are the five biggest changes that set the 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift apart from its predecessor.

There's no denying the fact that the appearance of the car is the first thing that gets noticed. Post the makeover,
the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has kept
its elegant proportions but added several styling tweaks that make it look more modern. The front fascia now features a larger illuminated grille, redesigned bumper and new LED headlamps capable of throwing light farther than before. These are accompanied by new alloy wheel designs and additional exterior cameras. At the rear, the sedan gets revised LED taillamps with Mercedes' signature three-pointed star lighting pattern.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift: New MBUX Superscreen
Inside, the major attraction of the 2026 model year is the redesigned dashboard. The luxury sedan now adopts the new MBUX Superscreen layout that stretches across the cabin. What's unique? You get a large central touchscreen with dedicated displays for the driver and front passenger. The display runs on Mercedes-Benz's latest operating system. The infotainment setup offers improved voice commands, smarter AI-based functions, and faster response times.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift: More Features
Mercedes-Benz has added more features to the S-Class. These include a 31-speaker Burmester 4D audio system, heated, ventilated and massage seats, rear entertainment displays, four-zone climate control, dual wireless smartphone chargers, panoramic sunroof, up to 15 airbags, an over-the-air software updates Level 2++ ADAS suite.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class Facelift: PHEV Powertrain
Another notable upgrade has taken place under the bonnet. The 2026 iteration now comes with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system consisting of a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine, 120kW electric motor and a 22kWh battery pack, which generates a total output of 443bhp and 680Nm. Power is sent to the wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz claims the luxury sedan can travel up to 115 km in pure electric mode. One of the most customer-friendly updates is the inclusion of air suspension as standard across the range.
