If you are a motorbike enthusiast and looking to buy your first sporty bike and too in your budget, two names that will instantly catch your attention are the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the KTM Duke 200.
Both the bikes belong to the 200cc segment, both look aggressive and stylish, but they serve different kinds of riders. Let’s explore which one could be the perfect match for you.
Price
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V starts at Rs 1.41 lakh (ex-showroom), while the KTM Duke 200 is priced at Rs 1.91 lakh (ex-showroom). So the Apache is a more pocket-friendly option and almost Rs 50,000 cheaper.
Engine and Performance
Under the fuel tank, the Apache RTR 200 4V is equipped with a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces 20.5 bhp and 17.25 Nm of torque. It may not sound like much compared to the KTM, but it delivers smooth power and is good for both city traffic and highway runs. The Apache also offers three ride modes like Sport, Urban and Rain.
The KTM Duke 200, on the other hand, is equipped with a 199.5cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 24.67 bhp and 19.3 Nm of torque, which means the Duke is more powerful and revs higher and provides that thrilling race feel. It also has a 6-speed gearbox for better top-end performance, while the Apache uses a 5-speed transmission.
Comfort and Features
While the Duke 200 feels more sportier and more aggressive, its firm seat and leaned-forward riding position might not be comfortable for long rides, whereas the Apache RTR 200 4V, in contrast, offers a more relaxed riding posture. RTR even features adjustable brake and clutch levers, a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster, and Glide Through Traffic (GTT) tech that helps you ride smoothly in slow traffic.
Mileage and Maintenance
The Apache delivers a mileage of around 37–40 kmpl which makes it more fuel-efficient in this segment and on the other hand the Duke, being a performance-focused motorbike, delivers about 35 kmpl of mileage. KTM bikes are known for their thrilling ride but also have higher maintenance costs.
