The India-spec Volkswagen Tayron R-Line has been unveiled officially. This comes ahead of its much-awaited launch in the first quarter of this year. The Volkswagen's brand-new flagship SUV in India will
be positioned in such a way that it bridges the gap between the Tiguan and the larger premium SUVs in the brand's portfolio. Moreover, the Tayron R-Line is Volkswagen's return to the three-row segment after it discontinued the Tiguan Allspace about five years back. This new offering is built on the MQB EVO platform and will boast a seven-seat configuration. The local assembly of the model is already underway at Volkswagen's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility. Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Design And Dimensions
The Tayron R-Line has an exterior which boasts a wider and longer stance than its five-seater counterpart, the Tiguan R-Line. The flagship SUV measures around 4,792 mm in length and has a wheelbase of about 2,789 mm. This is done to give more space for occupants and even luggage.
Coming to the design cues, you will find sport-oriented design cues throughout. These include 19-inch alloy wheels, connected LED taillamps, R-Line specific front and rear bumpers, LED Matrix headlamps with dynamic cornering as well as illuminated VW logos.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Powertrain Details
Under the hood, there is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine. In terms of transmission, you get a 7-speed DSG automatic unit as well as all-wheel drive capability. Talking about the power and torque figures, the power unit generates 201 hp of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The car can go from 0 to 100 km/h in about 7.3 seconds and the top speed stands at 224 km/h.

Inside, the cabin combines digital and comfort tech suited for a flagship SUV. Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Premium touches cover multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting with multiple colour options, powered and ventilated front seats with heating and massage functions and advanced driver assistance systems (Level 2 ADAS). Safety features span multiple airbags, stability control, hill hold assist, parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Market And Launch
The Tayron R-Line is expected to debut in India around March 2026 with tentative pricing around Rs 48-50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete in the premium SUV segment against rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner.
