Royal Enfield recently honoured its 125th anniversary with a 'World Origin Site' plaque in Redditch, England. It is the same town where the popular motorcycle brand began its journey in 1901. The company's original Hunt End Works factory was the installation place for the celebratory plaque. Although the most recent milestone is related to the UK, it matters deeply to India because the country serves as the brand's largest market, manufacturing hub, and innovation centre. Under Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield has successfully transformed from a legacy British manufacturer into one of India's most recognisable motorcycle brands. Hence, the celebration of 125 years of existence is just as meaningful for Indian riders as it is for enthusiasts in Britain.
From Britain To Indian Roads
The anniversary event brought together Royal Enfield employees, rider groups, local residents, and former workers of the original Redditch factory. To mark the occasion, the company curated a heritage showcase tracing its evolution across more than a century. The display featured motorcycles from multiple generations, including a replica of the original 1901 model and one of the earliest 1932 Bullet motorcycles, which laid the foundation for the brand's enduring presence in India.
Although RE's roots lie in Redditch, India has become the centre of the automaker's global operations. The country is a hub for the brand's manufacturing facilities and product development efforts. It manufactures its motorcycles in India and exports them to more than 80 countries. Alongside timeless models like the Bullet and Classic, Royal Enfield offers everything from adventure tourers and roadsters to 650cc twins here. The Flying Flea electric is also part of the lineup.
Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition
The company showcased the Classic 650 125th Anniversary Edition at the event. The bike, adorned in a unique red paint shade with gold detailing and a special 125-year crest, is a limited-run motorcycle that pays tribute to Royal Enfield's rich legacy. One of the key highlights includes a unique multi-layer "Hypershift" paint finish, which changes appearance under different lighting conditions. The motorcycle is scheduled to go on sale in Europe from August 2026, although Royal Enfield has not yet confirmed whether this special edition will be introduced in India.
