Tata Motors is preparing a multi-car rollout for India between 2026 and 2027 which will be led by EVs like the Sierra EV and Safari EV alongside updates such as the Tiago facelift. Here’s the key shift: buyers will see more electric options across segments while entry-level ICE models continue to get incremental upgrades by balancing affordability with electrification. This matters because Tata Motors is expanding its EV coverage beyond compact SUVs into premium and family-focused spaces while still keeping mass-market hatchbacks relevant. The result is a broader choice set for Indian buyers evaluating fuel type, budget as well as long-term ownership costs.
Sierra EV And Safari EV: Expanding Electric SUVs
The Tata Sierra EV will mark a significant addition to Tata’s electric lineup. For those
who don't know, this upcoming model will be positioned above current offerings like the Nexon EV. It is expected to offer multiple battery options and could deliver a claimed range of up to 600 km, depending on the variant. Features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging are also likely and indicate a focus on newer EV use cases.
Alongside it, the Safari EV will extend Tata Motors’ three-row SUV into the electric space. Expected to arrive around late 2026, it could offer both 6- and 7-seat layouts and a range between roughly 500-600 km. This positions it as a practical EV option for larger families and will make its place in a segment where choices remain slightly limited today.
Tiago Facelift And Entry-Level Updates
Tata is also looking to update its entry-level portfolio. This will come in the form of facelifted Tiago and Tiago EV. These updates are expected to focus on design and feature additions instead of mechanical changes. Revised bumpers, new lighting elements along with updated alloy wheels are likely.
For the Tiago EV, battery configurations are expected to remain similar but improvements in features and usability are anticipated. What this really means is Tata continues to prioritise affordability while keeping its entry models competitive in a crowded hatchback market.

Tata Avinya And Future EV Direction
Tata Avinya is definitely an indication of the brand's shift towards dedicated EV platforms. Unlike current conversions, these models will be built on a new architecture which is designed specifically for electric offerings. Expect a focus on space efficiency, longer wheelbase as well as more advanced technology integration.
The model will be positioned on the higher end when it arrives in the market. It will target buyers who want to bring home a premium EV with standout design elements and long range as well. The Avinya EV will also be feature-rich. Price estimates suggest a wide bracket and indicate multiple variants or body styles over time.
All in all, Tata’s upcoming cars reflect a dual approach: scale up EV adoption while keeping ICE models updated for value-conscious buyers. For Indian consumers, this translates into more flexibility whether prioritising upfront cost, running cost or future readiness.
