The Volkswagen Tayron SUV could soon become easier on wallets. The automaker has teased an SUV on its social platforms, and it appears to be a new Tayron variant that is expected to sit below the fully-loaded R-Line trim. Although Volkswagen has not confirmed anything, the new Tayron variant is expected to retain its pricier sibling's premium appeal. But, it could miss out on some equipment to serve as an affordable alternative. For the unversed, the Volkswagen Tayron currently comes in the single R-Line specification and is priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
New Volkswagen Tayron Variant Teased: Here's What We Noticed
The teaser shows that the new Volkswagen Tayron variant will retain its signature design, including the connected LED headlamps and full-width LED taillamps, but with a less sporty appearance
than the top-spec R-Line. It will have new alloy wheels. Volkswagen is also expected to tweak front and rear bumpers for a more distinct styling.
The interior is also likely to undergo minimal yet noticeable changes. The teaser reveals a dual-tone upholstery, blue ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. Volkswagen is expected to offer a shorter feature list than the top-spec R-Line to maintain the competitive pricing.
New Volkswagen Tayron Variant Engine
Mechanically, the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron variant is expected to remain identical to the R-Line model, which means it will continue with the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 201bhp and 320Nm. The engine is expected to be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG).
New Volkswagen Tayron Variant Expected Price
Volkswagen will announce prices for the new Tayron variant in India on July 10, 2026. When priced competitively, the upcoming trim could make the premium SUV more accessible for customers without sacrificing its core performance. In terms of competition, it will continue to lock horns with the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.
