JSW MG Motor India has ended Calendar Year 2025 on a historic high as the MG Windsor emerged as India’s best-selling electric car. The company announced that the Windsor EV recorded 46,735 units sold in CY25, which makes it the highest-selling four-wheeler EV in the country.
According to JSW MG Motor India, the Windsor’s success comes from its family-friendly design, spacious cabin and comfort-focused approach. Unlike earlier EVs that often felt experimental or limited, the Windsor offers a familiar and practical driving experience, which has helped it connect with a wide range of EV buyers. Smooth performance, quiet driving and easy handling have further added to its popularity, especially among urban families.

Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said that the Windsor has redefined the EV segment with its practicality, technology and futuristic design. He highlighted how the car has helped convert “fence-sitters”, people unsure about switching to EVs, into confident electric car owners.
The strong performance of the Windsor also reflects MG Motor India’s overall growth as the company closed CY2025 with 19 percent overall growth, while its EV sales jumped by an impressive 111 percent compared to CY2024. Sales growth has been strong in Tier II, Tier III and emerging markets, clearly showing that India’s readiness for electric mobility is expanding beyond major urban centres.
The MG Windsor is positioned as India’s first Intelligent CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle), blending the low-slung comfort of a sedan with the practicality and road presence of an SUV. This e-SUV is offered with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pricing model, starting at Rs 9.99 lakh plus Rs 3.9 per km, which actually lowers the upfront purchase cost and makes EV ownership more accessible.
Talking about the performance, the Windsor produces 100 kW (136 PS) of power and 200 Nm of torque, which ensures smooth and responsive city driving. Customers can choose between two battery options- 38 kWh battery offering a range of 332 km and larger 52.9 kWh PRO variant with 449 km range.
Design and comfort are where the Windsor truly stands out. Its futuristic ‘AeroGlide’ design language breaks away from traditional car categories. Inside, the cabin feels premium with ‘Aero Lounge’ seats that recline up to 135 degrees.. Adding to the modern feel is a massive 15.6-inch GRANDVIEW touchscreen, which acts as the command centre for infotainment and vehicle functions.
