Royal Enfield is preparing to set up a new motorcycle manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh with a proposed investment of around Rs 2,200 crore. This will mark the company’s first major production expansion outside Tamil Nadu. Nara Lokesh, IT Minister, Andhra Pradesh took to social media to signal the same. The new unit is expected to come up near Tirupati and could eventually become one of Royal Enfield’s largest manufacturing hubs in India. The project is significant because the brand currently builds all its motorcycles from facilities located around Chennai. With demand for Royal Enfield motorcycles rising in both domestic and export markets, the Andhra Pradesh plant is expected to play a key role in boosting production capacity over
the coming years.

Proposed Tirupati Plant Could Create Thousands Of Jobs
According to reports, the upcoming Royal Enfield facility will be developed in phases and may involve total investments ranging between Rs 2,200 crore and Rs 2,508 crore depending on future expansion requirements. Andhra Pradesh authorities have reportedly allocated nearly 450 acres of land for the project near Tirupati.
The proposed unit is expected to manufacture motorcycles, engines as well as components locally. Reports also indicate the facility could create around 2,000 direct jobs and several thousand indirect employment opportunities through suppliers, logistics, and ancillary industries.
Royal Enfield currently operates production facilities at Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Expanding into Andhra Pradesh will help the company reduce dependence on a single manufacturing region while improving supply chain flexibility.
Expansion Linked To Growing Domestic And Export Demand
Royal Enfield has expanded aggressively over the last few years with products such as the Hunter 350, Himalayan 450, Shotgun 650, Super Meteor 650 and Guerrilla 450. The company has also been increasing exports to international markets including Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.
The mid-size motorcycle segment between 250cc and 750cc continues to remain one of the fastest-growing premium two-wheeler categories in India. The Andhra Pradesh plant is expected to support future production requirements while also helping improve dispatch timelines and inventory availability across dealerships.

Why Andhra Pradesh Is Attracting Auto Investments
The Andhra Pradesh government has been actively targeting large automotive and EV investments through land allocation and industrial policy support. Tirupati and nearby regions are gradually emerging as manufacturing clusters due to improving infrastructure and connectivity.
For Royal Enfield buyers, the new facility could eventually help stabilise waiting periods and support future product launches as the company expands its portfolio across both domestic and export markets.
