Skoda has globally unveiled the Epiq, which is touted as its smallest EV to date. Though the electric SUV's launch in our market is not yet confirmed, it is anticipated to hit our shores by mid next year. While the compact electric SUV segment in India has many options, the Epiq, if launched, is most likely to directly rival the Creta Electric, which already enjoys strong brand recognition. We compare the newly unveiled Skoda Epiq with the Creta Electric to see which of these models will better cater to those seeking feature-rich and value-for-money option in compact EVs.
Skoda Epiq vs Hyundai Creta Electric: Design
The Epiq is the first production model of Skoda to feature its 'Modern Solid' design language. It proudly flaunts the 'Tech-Deck Face', which includes a more slimmer glossy
black grille, and T-shaped LED headlamps. Everything from the optimised underbody, to aero-focused alloy wheels have contributed to achieve the 0.275 drag coefficient.
On the other hand, the Hyundai EV maintains the familiar Creta styling with a range of EV-specific cues. It has a closed-off front grille, reworked aero-efficient bumpers, and unique 17-inch aero alloy wheels, all of which make the electric option more contemporary and imposing, and progressive.
Skoda Epiq vs Hyundai Creta Electric: Battery & Range
The most notable area of distinction between the two e-SUVS is their battery setup and claimed range. The Hyundai Creta Electric is offered with two battery packs (42kWh and 51.4kWh), with MIDC ranges of up to 420 kilometres and 510 kilometres, respectively. Hyundai also offers DC fast charging support, enabling the charge from 10% to 80% in about 39 minutes.
The Skoda Epiq, in contrast, offers battery options ranging from around 38.5kWh to 55kWh. The SUV claims to deliver a range of up to 440 kilometres. The top-spec variant is said to support faster DC charging speeds of up to 133 kW. For those with prioritising higher range, the Creta Electric currently appears stronger on paper, especially with its 510 km claimed figure.
