Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ Recalled In India - Check If Your SUV Is Affected

According to SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), Mercedes-Benz India has voluntarily recalled the 99 units of the all-electric G 580 EQ. The reason behind the move is a potential issue with the SUV's wheel bolts. The luxury SUV was launched in India in July 2024 as the electric version of the G-Class, and is currently priced starting at Rs 3.10 crore (ex-showroom). The electric off-roader's looks rugged, boxy, and have signature G-Class styling elements. It uses a 116kWh battery and a quad-motor setup (one on each wheel). According to the recall notice, Mercedes-Benz has identified a potential defect related to the wheel bolts fitted on certain G 580 EQ units. If the problem

is left unattended, the wheel bolt connections could become loose over the course of the model's life. The deterioration may ruin driving stability and increase the chances of an accident. To get ahead of the issue, Mercedes-Benz has launched a proactive recall to examine and resolve the defect.

How Many Units Are Affected?

A total of 99 units of the Mercedes-Benz G 580 EQ, which were manufactured between July 12, 2024, and August 18, 2025, have been affected by the most recent recall. Though the number is small, owners of affected SUVs are recommended to take the issue seriously, as it involves a critical component that links directly to car safety.
