Mahindra has launched the refreshed Thar in India, with prices starting at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The update keeps the Thar’s core boxy, off-road character but adds targeted changes to comfort, connectivity and minor exterior detailing aimed at daily usability rather than a full redesign. Key cabin upgrades include a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents, and a sliding centre armrest. Mahindra is offering the Thar with the same petrol and diesel engine options, multiple transmissions and both RWD and 4x4 layouts.

New Mahindra Thar: What's Changed
Changes are not radical but clearly modest here. The car now gets a body-coloured front grille, a rear wiper with washer, a parking camera on the spare wheel hub, and two fresh paint shades-Tango Red and Battleship Grey. Interior enhancements come in the form of revamped dashboard, new steering wheel, sliding armrest, relocated power window switches, an internally operated fuel lid, and added grab handles on the A-pillars. Moreover, additional USB Type-C ports in fact add to the practicality of the car for daily usage.
New Mahindra Thar: Powertrain And Variants
Mahindra retains three engine choices: the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and two diesel (2.2 mHawk and D117 CRDe) units, paired with 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmissions. Configuration choices include RWD and selectable 4x4 with driveline disconnect on some variants, keeping the Thar usable both as a city vehicle and weekend off-roader. Mahindra positions this refresh to sharpen daily comfort and tech while preserving the Thar’s off-road capability.
