Suzuki is getting ready to take a big step into the future of cars with the launch of its first global electric SUV ‘e Vitara’. One factor which makes this launch special is that the car is made in India and will first go on sale in Japan on January 16, 2026.
The e Vitara was first presented to the world in Milan in 2024 and later in India at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Built on a brand-new platform developed with Toyota, this SUV has a stylish boxy design, 18-inch wheels, and tri-slash LED lights.
Buyers can choose from 10 exterior colours, including stylish dual-tone options.
When it comes to power, Suzuki will offer the e Vitara with two battery choices, which are 49 kWh and 61 kWh, which will give customers flexibility based on their driving
choices. Depending on the version, the SUV will produce 144 bhp, 171 bhp, or 181 bhp. The top-specification model even comes with four-wheel drive (4WD), making it ready for tougher roads or terrains.

From the inside, the SUV is packed with modern technology like a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Level 2 driver assistance features (ADAS), and Suzuki’s new ALLGRIP-e electric 4WD system for extra hassle free stability.
Production of the e Vitara has already started in India, with Maruti Suzuki exporting nearly 2,900 units to European countries such as the UK, Germany, France, Sweden and eventually, the SUV will be shipped to over 100 global markets.
For Indian buyers, the wait won’t be too long either, as the e Vitara is expected to arrive in India by late 2025 or early 2026. With its global debut, Suzuki is not just entering the electric car race but also proving that India can be a hub for world-class EV production.
