December 2025 has been an exciting time for SUV fans as multiple carmakers introduced new models or new-generation facelifts in the mid-sized segment. One such new-generation unveil was the 2026 Kia Seltos SUV that will be launched in India on January 2. Since its first-generation launch in 2019, the Seltos has been a popular choice among SUV buyers and enjoys a significant market share in the mid-sized segment. With the new model out, let's see what kind of features and gadgets are being offered in the base HTE trim.

Between the eight trim levels, the Seltos HTE variant comes in at the bottom and will be offered at the starting price, which will be announced
in January. While the new exterior design will largely be similar to higher variants, the Seltos HTE will differentiate with a set of 16-inch steel wheels, fabric interior upholstery in two-tone colour and a few shiny bits here and there.
In terms of the lift of features, the base Seltos HTE will offer the new and attractive LED headlamp and DRLs as standard. The LED taillamps are also standard but the connected taillamp will be missing in the base variant. The flush door handles will be offered but with manual mechanism, it will also feature the new steering wheel and a 4.2-inch TFT display for driver information, along with a 12-inch LCD cluster. Infotainment will be taken care of by a 10.25-inch touchscreen that offers wireless smartphone support and a 6-speaker audio setup.
The base Seltos HTE will also come with cruise control, keyless entry, all four power windows, rear AC vents and electronically operated ORVMs. For those who are looking to spend the least amount of money but also have the option of an automatic gearbox, Kia will offer an automatic gearbox option in the Seltos HTE (O) trim level. Along with the automatic, this variant will have add-ons such as the connected tail lamp at the rear, semi-leatherette seats, glossy black roof rails and more.
In terms of engine options, the Seltos HTE will be available with the Smartstream 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engines. Both engines will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission and those prefer an automatic, will have to upgrade to the HTE(O) variant. Other equipment in the new Kia Seltos include 24 standard safety features such as airbags, ABS, ESC and more.
With newer SUV models flooding in, this generation upgrade to the Seltos aims to keep fans interested in the SUV in the future. However, considering that the base HTE variant covers design, infotainment and driving aids such as cruise control, Kia has kept the value proposition of the Seltos high from the most affordable option itself. We will learn more when the brand announces the prices for the new Seltos on January 2.
