Mercedes-AMG’s next big step into electric performance took an unexpected Hollywood turn last weekend, thanks to a cameo from Brad Pitt. The actor, who has been immersed in the world of motorsport for his
upcoming Formula 1 film, joined the brand in Las Vegas as it continued testing and teasing its all-electric GT 4 Door Coupe.
AMG didn’t just roll out another development mule for the occasion. It arrived in Sin City with a lightly camouflaged prototype and a clever bit of theatre planned for the F1 weekend. Mercedes F1 driver George Russell was handed the keys and asked to give the car a proper workout on and around the Strip. Naturally, cameras were rolling.

The result was a new promotional clip featuring Pitt and Russell in a playful, high-octane setup. The short film opens with Pitt strolling up to a valet counter to collect his “ride.” Instead of a limousine or some over-the-top supercar, the valet staff summon Russell, who emerges from the depths of an underground car park piloting the camouflaged GT 4 Door Coupe. Before pulling up to Pitt, Russell lets the prototype stretch its legs, lighting up the tyres, sliding through ramps and tunnels, and giving viewers a cheeky taste of the car’s abilities.
The prototype seen drifting through the hotel garage is closely related to the AMG GT XX concept unveiled earlier this year. In production form, the electric GT 4 Door is expected to go head-to-head with the Porsche Taycan and Audi RS e-tron GT.
AMG knows this project will be watched closely by purists who associate the brand with thunderous exhaust notes and heavy-hitting petrol engines. But the message from Las Vegas was clear: this is still very much an AMG, just one with electrons instead of cylinders.

Built on the new AMG-EA architecture, the car uses a mix of aluminium, steel and lightweight composite materials. Under the skin, the production model is expected to run a trio of axial-flux electric motors, high-density units capable of delivering well over 1,000 hp in total. If AMG hits its targets, the electric GT 4 Door Coupe could become one of the most powerful road cars the brand has ever produced, and judging by Russell’s Las Vegas outing, it won’t be short on theatrics either.
