The world of electric cars has entered a new phase with the global debut of the all-new BMW iX3 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas and this SUV is more than just another launch, as it represents the future direction of BMW’s upcoming electric vehicles. With next-generation electric technology, a smarter AI assistant, faster charging and even built-in entertainment features, the iX3 has become one of the biggest attractions of CES.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
The highlight of the new BMW iX3 is the upgraded BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant which is now powered by Amazon Alexa+ and this is the first time BMW is offering such advanced voice interaction. This assistant can understand natural conversations, respond more intelligently and allow passengers to ask multiple questions at once. It handles both car-related commands and general knowledge queries, which makes the in-car experience feel more intuitive and human-like.BMW also plans to roll out this updated AI to more models starting in the second half of 2026.
From the inside, the SUV introduces BMW’s futuristic Panoramic iDrive, which was shown in concept form last year.
This system combines smart digital features with essential physical controls so drivers can operate everything comfortably while keeping their eyes on the road. The interface is cleaner, faster and easier for first-time EV users to understand.
Entertainment and Apps
Entertainment inside the iX3 is also a major step forward, as when the car is parked, users can stream movies and videos through apps like Disney+ and the TiVo-powered Video App. The system also includes YouTube Music and for the first time, Zoom video calls can be made directly from the central display. Gaming has also been taken seriously with AirConsole, which offers games like UNO Car Party and an exclusive new title, Hot Wheels Xtreme Overdrive. Passengers can also use their smartphones or Bluetooth controllers to play.Performance, Range and Charging
The BMW iX3’s performance comes from the company’s new sixth-generation eDrive technology, which brings major improvements in range, efficiency and charging speed. With 469 hp and 645 Nm of torque, the SUV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and it delivers up to 805 km of driving range on a single charge, due to newly developed cylindrical-cell batteries. Fast charging has also improved dramatically and by using 800V chargers, the iX3 can add 372 km of range in just 10 minutes or charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 21 minutes. It also supports bidirectional charging which allows the SUV to power home appliances, supply energy to your home or even return electricity to the grid.Driving dynamics are refined using a specialized high-speed processor called the Heart of Joy. It controls the motors, brakes, steering and energy recovery with much greater precision. BMW says this creates smoother starts, tighter control in corners, and extremely comfortable braking. In fact, in everyday driving, 98% of braking is handled through energy regeneration instead of normal brake pads, which actually improves efficiency.
The iX3 also includes a new generation of driver assistance features, which is a powerful “superbrain” computer that enables functions such as hands-free driving at speeds up to 130 km/h, automatic lane changes with just eye confirmation, and city-friendly features like automatically stopping and restarting at traffic lights. BMW plans to add even more driver assistance capabilities through future software updates.
Overall, the BMW iX3 gives a clear preview of BMW’s new era and as the first model based on the upcoming Neue Klasse platform, the technologies showcased here will appear in 40 future BMW models by 2027.
