Mercedes-Benz EQB To End Production After 2025: Details Inside

Mercedes-Benz’s all-electric EQB, which is the EV version of the popular GLB-Class, is set to be discontinued after the 2025 model year. The EQB, which debuted in 2021, had a surprisingly short run, as it used the older MFA platform from 2011 instead of a newer electric-focused architecture.

According to Motor1, a company spokesperson confirmed, “The EQB has reached the end of its planned lifecycle and therefore will not be offered in the US or Canada after model year 2025.”

Despite its short life, the EQB offered a practical option for families, with a 70.5 kWh battery, DC fast charging up to 100 kW, and a driving range of 330–403 kms depending on the configuration. It was also one of the few electric SUVs from Mercedes to offer three-row seating,

which made it a rare seven-seater EV. Prices for the 2025 EQB start at Rs 48,11,014, including destination charges.

Mercedes-Benz reassures fans that electrification is still a top priority, as the brand prepares to launch two new SUVs on the advanced MMA platform, which supports both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. This new platform which is seen in the redesigned CLA, promises faster charging, modern interior tech, and an 800-volt system that makes future Mercedes EVs faster, smarter, and more capable.

For buyers looking for a seven-seater EV now, the EQS remains the only option with a third-row seat and that too for a very limited time. But with Mercedes actively rolling out new models, the EQB’s replacement is expected to arrive sooner rather than later, likely at a higher price and with more advanced technology.

The EQB’s end points towards a shift in Mercedes EV strategy that paves the way for a new generation of electric SUVs that promise better performance, technology and style for the future of luxury electric mobility.
