Hyundai To Launch Over 18 Hybrid Models Globally: India To Get First Locally-Designed EV

Hyundai Motor Company has revealed that it will launch over 18 hybrid models by 2030, which includes its luxury Genesis brand and debut the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid with advanced TMED-II technology for better fuel efficiency.

For India, Hyundai is preparing something special, which will be the country’s first EV designed specifically for local drivers, also backed by a localized supply chain for affordability and convenience.

The company is aspiring for a global roadmap with a mix of hybrids, EVs, luxury cars, and pickup trucks, promising smarter batteries, futuristic designs, updated software and local manufacturing for better value.

Globally, Hyundai aims to add 1.2 million production units by 2030, with plants in India, the US, Korea, and Saudi

Arabia to lead the charge. In North America, Hyundai will release its first mid-size pickup truck before 2030 and Europe will see the IONIQ 3, which will be tailored for mass-market buyers, while China gets a new Elexio SUV and electric sedan.

The brand is also working on Extended Range EVs (EREVs), which are the futuristic vehicles that can travel up to 960 km on a single charge, but with smaller, cost-effective batteries to avoid “range anxiety” and at the same time, its high-performance N lineup will expand with the IONIQ 6 N introducing advanced driving modes and signature “N” thrills.

According to Hyundai, on the technology side it is going full steam into Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), robotics-powered factories, AI for voice and autonomous driving, and a new Pleos infotainment system with app stores and personalization. Battery innovations will reduce costs by 30% and improve safety with advanced fire-prevention systems.

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis is also aiming for 3,50,000 annual sales by 2030, racing into motorsport with Genesis Magma Racing in 2026. Its strategic alliances with Waymo, GM and Amazon Autos will bring autonomous tech, co-developed vehicles and advanced online buying options.

Hyundai CFO Seung Jo (Scott) Lee confirmed a massive KRW 77.3 trillion investment which is approximately Rs 4.7 lakh crore from 2026–2030, focusing on R&D, future technologies and US manufacturing.
