The Volkswagen Taigun facelift introduces over 40 updates including new lighting, added features as well as a new automatic gearbox option, changes that directly impact daily usability for Indian buyers. The focus isn’t on reinventing the SUV but fixing clear gaps in features and refinement. With rivals offering more tech and convenience, this update aims to keep the Taigun competitive without altering its core strengths. Buyers familiar with the current model will notice that the biggest gains come in cabin experience, gearbox improvements and feature additions rather than outright performance or structural changes.
Design Changes: Subtle Outside, Noticeable Upgrades
The Volkswagen Taigun facelift sticks to the same overall proportions but brings visible updates where it matters. The front gets
a redesigned grille, revised bumper as well as updated LED headlamps with a new lighting signature. A connected LED light bar with an illuminated logo is a key addition that makes the SUV look more current compared to the outgoing version.
At the rear, the Taigun retains its connected taillamps but now features sharper C-shaped lighting elements and a tweaked bumper. New alloy wheel designs further differentiate it from the older model. There are new colour options as well including Lava Blue, Reflex Silver, Candy White, Cherry Red and Carbon Steel.
Inside, changes are more meaningful. The facelift introduces improved materials with six upholstery options to choose from, two-tone modern cabin layout, sporty dark-themed interior (GT Line/GT Plus), aluminium pedals as well as laser red ambient lighting accents.
Features And Safety: Closing The Gap
Coming to comfort and tech updates, the new Taigun has seen significant tweaks. There is finally a panoramic sunroof with summer function along with a 6-way electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a 10.09-inch infotainment unit, over 15 different apps, a 9-inch digital driver cluster and a 'Hello Volkswagen' Voice Assist for music and AC controls.
The outgoing Taigun already offered a solid base with a 5-star Global NCAP rating and essentials like TPMS and idle start-stop tech. The facelift builds on this with a stronger focus on convenience and tech. You get safety elements like six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), anti-lock braking system (ABS), Hill Hold Control along with multi-collision braking. These directly improve daily usability in city driving and parking scenarios.

Engine And Gearbox: Same Engines, Key Transmission Shift
Mechanically, the Taigun facelift continues with the same 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines (999cc and 1,498cc), producing up to 147 hp and 250Nm.
What changes is the gearbox strategy. The facelift introduces a new 8-speed torque converter automatic for the 1.0-litre engine and replaces the older 6-speed AT unit. This is expected to improve fuel efficiency and deliver smoother performance in stop-go traffic which is an important upgrade for urban buyers.
The 1.5-litre engine continues with the DSG automatic but with improved calibration for better drivability.
In simple terms, the facelift doesn’t change how fast the Taigun is, it changes how easy it feels to live with. That’s where the real difference lies for most buyers.
