Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall for a sizeable batch of its Grand Vitara SUVs after identifying an issue with the fuel-level display system. The company has flagged 39,506 units for inspection, all of which
were manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. According to the automaker, the fuel gauge and the low-fuel warning light in certain vehicles may not be showing accurate readings, which could leave drivers unsure about the amount of fuel actually left in the tank.
The brand has already begun notifying owners of the affected units. Customers will be asked to bring their SUVs to authorised service centres, where technicians will check the speedometer assembly and replace the faulty component if needed. The work will be carried out free of charge, and Maruti Suzuki has said the recall is being undertaken as a precautionary measure to ensure long-term safety and reliability. Owners can also visit Nexa's official website and check if their vehicle is affected by putting in their chassis number.

The Grand Vitara remains one of Maruti Suzuki’s more significant offerings in the crowded mid-size SUV segment, sharing its platform and hybrid powertrains with Toyota. Buyers get a choice between a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a strong-hybrid setup. The regular petrol engine produces 101.5 bhp and 137 Nm and can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki also offers an AllGrip all-wheel-drive version. The hybrid variant, meanwhile, uses Toyota’s 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 109 bhp. Maruti Suzuki claims an excellent 27.97 kmpl for the hybrid model. The standard petrol variant offers between 20.58 kmpl and 21.11 kmpl, depending on the gearbox, while the AWD version understandably sits lower at 19.20 kmpl. Prices for the Grand Vitara currently range from Rs 10.77 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh (ex-showroom), covering petrol, CNG, and hybrid options.
