The MG Majestor is set to launch in India tomorrow, marking MG’s entry into the premium ladder-frame SUV space with a model positioned against the Toyota Fortuner. Bookings are already open for a token amount of Rs 41,000 indicating early interest ahead of the official price reveal. The Majestor SUV is expected to sit above the Gloster in MG’s lineup, focusing on a mix of size, road presence and feature-loaded packaging. It will enter a segment where buyers typically prioritise durability, highway performance and long-distance comfort over outright efficiency.
Expected Price, Positioning And Rivals
The MG Majestor is likely to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in direct competition with the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian as well as Skoda Kodiaq.
This is a highly competitive space where brand value and resale play a major role alongside features.
MG’s positioning will revolve around offering a more feature-rich cabin at a comparable price point. Buyers in this segment usually compare total ownership costs including maintenance and resale value instead of just the initial purchase price. This will be a key factor once deliveries begin.
Engine, Mileage And Hardware Setup
The Majestor is based on a body-on-frame platform, which is generally preferred for strength and off-road capability rather than city-focused efficiency. The SUV uses a 2.0-litre, twin-turbo diesel engine similar to the Gloster. The power and torque figures stand at 212.5 hp and 478.5 Nm, respectively.
It also gets the M-HUB 4X4 system along with a Smart 4X4 Command Centre which essentially manages how the SUV handles different terrains. The claimed mileage may hover around 14 kmpl.
When it comes to drive modes, you can choose between Auto, 2H, 4H and 4L. In Auto mode, the system shifts between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive on its own depending on road conditions. If you prefer more control, you can switch modes manually. There are also close to 10 terrain settings including Normal, Snow, Sand and Rock, each tuned for specific driving conditions.

Features, Cabin And Buyer Impact
Inside, the MG Majestor focuses on technology and comfort. Features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof and advanced driver assistance systems.
For buyers, the appeal will depend on how well these features translate into everyday usability. SUVs in this category are often used for long-distance travel where seat comfort, cabin space and ride quality matter more than acceleration figures.
The Majestor will offer an alternative to established models by combining traditional SUV hardware with a higher level of in-cabin technology. Its market response will depend on pricing, service support and real-world performance after launch.
