Range-X, the battery arm of Kinetic India, has announced the launch of its first Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) traction battery from the company's Ahilya Nagar production plant. Certified to AIS 156, Range-X says
these cells are built for safety and longevity. The initial units of the battery will be powering the Kinetic DX EV. This roll out will mark a significant step toward establishing indigenous battery supplies for both two- and three-wheeler EVs. In addition to this, Range-X aims to position the Ahilya Nagar plant as a scalable, automated source, fulfilling requirements in the future.

Battery Specs And Certification
The new Range-X LFP batteries use LFP chemistry for its thermal stability and lifecycle advantages. Range-X quotes expected cycle life in the 2,000–3,000 cycle band, and highlights a smart Battery Management System (BMS) to optimise performance and durability. Importantly, the packs carry AIS 156 certification, signalling compliance with India’s regulatory safety and performance benchmarks for traction batteries.
Manufacturing, Quality Controls And Tech
The Ahilya Nagar facility features a fully automated, IoT-enabled production line with POKE-YOKE (error-proofing) systems and stage-wise inspections to enforce consistency and traceability. Range-X emphasises process controls and digital monitoring across the line to deliver repeatable quality as it ramps up throughput for the Kinetic DX and future applications. The release frames these capabilities as central to meeting OEM reliability requirements.
First Application And Market Implications
The batteries will initially power the Kinetic DX EV and are planned to extend to other two- and three-wheel platforms. Range-X says the rollout supports the company’s intent to serve growing domestic demand for rugged, certified traction batteries for light EVs. By producing AIS-certified LFP packs locally, Kinetic aims to offer OEMs a combination of safety, longer life and supply continuity as EV adoption expands.
