Tarun Garg, MD and CEO Designate, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, on Thursday (December 18) outlined the company’s growing focus on accessibility and inclusive
mobility. Speaking at INDIA ECONOMIC CONCLAVE 2025, he said that Hyundai began its accessibility journey with swivel seats after identifying a clear need among customers. He said that Hyundai has plans to introduce an assistive device in its cars which will help drivers with both acceleration and braking. "We started with the swivel seats because we saw that this was a very clear requirement. There is a lot of demand coming in where people want to drive very soon... as early as the next quarter we are going to have an assistive device which will help people to accelerate the car as well as braking solutions," he said. Highlighting the role of technology in cars, Garg said that the right use of technology can remove barriers by simplifying access. Technology can make driving easier for those with limited mobility. He said that Hyundai's CCNC screen is truly assistive for somebody with disabilities. For example, when we say "khul ja sim sim" today, that opens the sunroof. He said that there should be "no barrier for people with disabilities when we are talking about solutions". VIDEO
