What is the story about?
Nissan, on Thursday, confirmed that its upcoming compact three-row MPV for the Indian market will be called the Gravite. The seven-seat B-segment MPV is scheduled to be unveiled in January 2026, with prices to be announced in March 2026.
The Gravite is part of Nissan Motor India’s renewed product strategy and was announced in July 2024 as the second model under the company’s India product offensive. Nissan’s stated roadmap includes the launch of the Gravite in early 2026, followed by the Tekton SUV in mid-2026 and a seven-seat C-SUV in early 2027.
According to the company, the name “Gravite” is derived from the word “gravity.” The new MPV will be manufactured at Renault’s facility in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu. Nissan has confirmed that the model will be locally produced for the Indian market.
The MPV is based on the CMF-A+ platform, shared with the Renault Triber. It will be positioned below the Nissan Magnite in the company’s Indian line-up and will compete in the sub-4-metre seven-seat MPV segment.
Teaser images released by Nissan show that the Gravite retains the overall proportions of the Triber but features Nissan-specific exterior elements. These include a revised front bumper, a new grille, updated lighting elements, different alloy wheels, and Gravite badging on the bonnet and tailgate.
The rear features revised bumper detailing and updated tail-lamp signatures. Nissan has confirmed that the vehicle remains under four metres in length. Interior details have not been officially revealed. Nissan hasn't released final specifications or details on cabin features, equipment, or engine options.
However, the Gravite is expected to use the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine offered in the Renault Triber, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. Transmission options are expected to include a five-speed manual and a five-speed automated manual. A CNG option may be offered later as a dealer-level fitment.
Alongside the Gravite announcement, Nissan confirmed plans to expand its dealer network across Tier I and Tier II cities in India. The company also reiterated that the Nissan Magnite, manufactured in India, is exported to 65 international markets.
