What is the story about?
South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia has recently launched the MY26 Carens Clavis EV in India with updates focused on new top-spec trims and the introduction of a 6-seater configuration.
The Carens Clavis EV is now available with a 6-seater layout featuring second-row captain seats. This configuration is offered in HTX (E), HTX, HTX+, GTX, GTX+ and X-Line variants across both Standard Range and Extended Range versions.
The 7-seater configuration continues to be available on GTX, GTX+ and X-Line variants for buyers needing higher seating capacity. There is no price difference between the 6-seater and 7-seater versions.
Kia said the new layout was introduced “in response to customer feedback, particularly from buyers who prefer a more premium, chauffeur-style travel experience.” The setup is intended to improve passenger comfort, provide more personal space and allow easier access to the third row.
New GT-Line and X-Line trims
Kia has added GT-Line and X-Line trims to the Extended Range lineup.
The GT-Line trims, available as GTX and GTX+, feature a sport-focused design. Changes include new alloy wheel designs, lime-coloured brake calipers and metal pedals.
The X-Line Extended Range variant adopts a darker theme. It is offered in Dark Gun Metal and Aurora Black Pearl colours.
Both GTX+ and X-Line variants come with a digital key and battery heater technology. Standard Range variants receive new 16-inch black high gloss Aero alloy wheels.
Battery, performance and features
The Carens Clavis EV continues with two battery options. The 42 kWh battery produces 133 BHP and offers a range of 404 km. The 51.4 kWh battery produces 169 BHP and delivers a range of 490 km.
Power comes from electric motors rated at 99 kW and 126 kW, producing 255 Nm of torque. Fast charging allows the battery to go from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 39 minutes.
The cabin includes a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display, more than 85 connected car features and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof on higher trims. Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), as part of a total of 18 safety features.
