What is the story about?
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, on Friday, expanded its Xpres fleet portfolio with the launch of petrol and twin-cylinder CNG variants. The move builds on the existing Xpres EV and targets a wider fleet market.
The Xpres petrol variant has been launched at an introductory price of ₹5.59 lakh, while the CNG variant is priced at ₹6.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Bookings are now open across authorised fleet dealerships.
With petrol, CNG and electric options, the expanded Xpres range targets high-usage segments such as airport transfers, cab aggregators, intercity travel, employee transport, rent-a-car services and tourist taxis.
The new Xpres variants are powered by the company’s 1.2-litre Revotron engine and come with a manual transmission. The models are designed for sustained fleet usage and high uptime.
The Xpres CNG features a first-in-segment 70-litre twin-cylinder CNG fuel tank measured by water capacity. The automaker claims this setup offers the highest fuel capacity in the segment and enables a longer travel range. The twin-cylinder layout also allows uncompromised boot space, addressing luggage constraints faced by fleet operators.
The petrol variant offers a boot space of 419 litres, the largest in the petrol fleet sedan segment. Both variants are positioned as best-in-class fleet sedans in their respective fuel categories.
The Xpres petrol and CNG variants come with a standard warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km, whichever is earlier. The warranty can be extended up to five years or 1,80,000 km. Maintenance cost is rated at ₹0.47 per km.
The Xpres expansion comes as Hyundai Motor India Limited has also entered the commercial mobility space with its Prime Taxi Range . Hyundai’s offering includes the Prime HB hatchback and Prime SD sedan.
In comparison, Tata’s Xpres undercuts Hyundai on entry pricing, with the petrol sedan starting at ₹5.59 lakh and the CNG at ₹6.59 lakh, positioning it as a lower-cost option for fleet buyers. Claimed maintenance costs are similar at 47 paise per km, while both manufacturers offer warranties extendable up to five years or 1,80,000 km.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has also set up exclusive fleet-focused dealerships in select cities. These outlets will offer dedicated sales and service support for commercial customers.
