Chasing 160 after New Zealand posted 159 for 7, England lost a few early wickets. Henry removed Phil Salt in the first over, and Lockie Ferguson sent back Jos Buttler for a duck as England slumped to 2 for 2.

However, the moment came in the third over. Henry, targeting the blockhole, delivered a full ball on the stumps. Brook shuffled across, dropped to one knee, and unleashed a mighty scoop over square leg. The connection was so clean that the ball smashed into the replay LED screen. Earlier in the over, Brook had been hit on the body attempting a ramp, but he refused to be deterred.

Brook’s innings was laced with three fours and that spectacular six in his 26 off 24 balls. But just as he seemed set to anchor the chase, Glenn Phillips outfoxed him. Trying to hit against the turn, Brook holed out to Daryl Mitchell at long-off in the eighth over, departing with England at 50 for 3.

Earlier, New Zealand’s innings had been built on solid contributions. Tim Seifert (35 off 25) and Finn Allen (29 off 19) guided the Black Caps to 54 without loss in the powerplay. England’s spin trio of Adil Rashid, Will Jacks, and Rehan Ahmed bounced things back through the middle overs. Rashid removed Seifert and Mark Chapman, while Jacks accounted for Allen and later bowled Phillips, whose 39 off 28 had steadied the innings. Rehan chipped in with two wickets as well, restricting New Zealand to what looked like a par total on a turning surface.

In response, England rebuilt after Brook’s dismissal through Jacob Bethell and Tom Banton. Rachin Ravindra’s triple strike, removing Bethell, Banton, and Sam Curran, tilted the game back in New Zealand’s favor. Yet Will Jacks kept England alive with Rehan Ahmed. At 139 for 6 after 18 overs, England needed 21 runs off the final 12 balls, with the required rate climbing to 10.50.
