Collision Sparks Altercation
In the bustling city of Bengaluru, a night that began with a minor traffic mishap quickly devolved into a serious confrontation. Two female students, identified
as 19-year-old Liza and 18-year-old Amran Mathew, were reportedly riding a two-wheeler when they collided with a cab driven by 47-year-old Ahmed Gurkar. The impact sent the students tumbling onto the road, causing damage to the rear left side of the cab. Initially, the cab driver stated he assisted the fallen students. However, when he attempted to discuss the damage and requested compensation for repairs, the situation took a violent turn. The students allegedly began hurling profanities at him, escalating the disagreement into a physical altercation.
Escalation and Police Intervention
The alleged assault intensified dramatically as the intoxicated students reportedly resorted to using their helmets as weapons against the cab driver. Their aggressive behavior didn't stop there; when bystanders attempted to intervene and understand the situation, they too were subjected to the students' violent outbursts. The chaos prompted a passerby to dial the emergency helpline, 112. Responding swiftly, the Hulimavu police arrived at the scene. Even upon the police's arrival, the young women allegedly resisted apprehension, struggling when officers tried to escort them into a police vehicle. Following a brief struggle, they were transported to the Hulimavu police station, where their parents were subsequently contacted and summoned.
Case Registered, Notice Issued
Upon arrival at the police station, a formal case was registered against the two students for their alleged actions. The authorities confirmed that while legal proceedings were initiated, the students were not taken into custody for an extended period. They were released in the early hours of Saturday, around 3 am, after their parents were present and a notice was served to them. This indicates a preliminary legal action taken by the police to address the incident, with further steps potentially dependent on the outcome of the investigation or the disposition of the involved parties.
