in its performance during the second and third weeks, the war drama, led by Sunny Deol, has showcased immense resilience. On its sixteenth day, a Saturday, the movie garnered an estimated Rs 5.25 crore in net collection within India, experiencing a welcome surge after a somewhat subdued Friday where it earned approximately Rs 2.85 crore. This strong Saturday performance nearly doubled its Friday earnings, as indicated by preliminary figures. The film’s first week alone contributed a substantial Rs 224.25 crore, followed by Rs 70.15 crore in its second week. This momentum has propelled its total India net collection to an impressive Rs 301.5 crore. Beyond domestic success, 'Border 2' has also made a significant impact internationally, accumulating an estimated Rs 52 crore, bringing its worldwide gross to approximately Rs 412 crore. The overall gross collection in India has reportedly surpassed Rs 360 crore.

Surpassing Blockbusters

The Anurag Singh directorial, 'Border 2', continues its upward trajectory on the list of highest-grossing Hindi films. After comfortably crossing the Rs 300 crore threshold, the film has now outshone the lifetime collections of several major hits. It has surpassed the earnings of 'Dhoom 3', which collected Rs 290 crore, and 'Sultan', which reached Rs 300 crore. The next milestones in its sights are 'Padmaavat' (Rs 303 crore), followed by 'War' (Rs 318 crore) and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' (Rs 320 crore). Trade experts predict that 'Border 2' is poised to add another Rs 15–20 crore to its domestic total. This is expected to push its final India net collection to around Rs 325 crore before its theatrical run begins to wind down. The film's journey at the box office was significantly bolstered by a strong opening during the Republic Day weekend, enjoying an uncontested period at the cinemas.

Facing New Competition

As 'Border 2' continues its successful run, it is set to face new challenges with the upcoming release of Shahid Kapoor's film, 'O' Romeo'. This new entrant is anticipated to capture a significant portion of the audience, potentially impacting 'Border 2's' box office figures. Furthermore, the film will also contend with the Hollywood release 'Wuthering Heights', starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, which is slated for a February 13 release, coinciding with the Valentine's Day weekend. Despite these emerging competitors, 'Border 2' demonstrated a promising start to its third Sunday, with early morning shows indicating collections exceeding Rs 20 lakh. The film's weekend performance has been robust, with its first weekend earning Rs 121 crore and the second accumulating Rs 51 crore. The current third weekend total is estimated at Rs 7.1 crore. By early afternoon on Sunday, the film had already garnered Rs 93 lakh, positioning it for a strong finish to the weekend. If it manages to add approximately Rs 3 crore, it will cross the Rs 10 crore mark for its third weekend. By 3 pm on Sunday, the day's collection reached an estimated Rs 1.83 crore, indicating a strong likelihood of hitting double digits for the weekend. By evening, the epic war drama had minted an estimated Rs 6.90 crore for Day 17, bringing its cumulative total to Rs 309.4 crore.
