Vivek Oberoi shocked everyone after she held a press conference in 2003 and accused Salman Khan of threatening him. It was said that the Saathiya actor was allegedly dating Aishwarya Rai at that time.
But the press conference changed Vivek’s life and impacted his career negatively.
In a recent interview, Vivek Oberoi recalled what happened afterwards and shared that when he looks back at it now, he “laughs.” The actor mentioned that he does not care about the incident now, but back then, he was boycotted by the film industry.
“I don’t remember or care about the things that happened to me. The things which are difficult to let go are your mother’s expressions and your father’s reaction to the whole incident. I find it difficult to let go of those tears in her eyes. Eventually, the goal is to let that go as well, because all those memories will give rise to more negative feelings,” he told Prakhar Gupta on his YouTube channel.
Vivek Oberoi: ‘I Used To Get Threatening Calls’
Vivek shared that he was not only ‘threatened’ after the incident but also ousted from several projects. The actor also recalled that even his family members received multiple threatening calls back then.
“A point came during that time where everyone was boycotting me left and right. No one was ready to work with me, and I was thrown out of the films I had already signed. Moreover, I used to get a lot of calls threatening me. These calls were made to my sister, father and mother as well,” he said.
Vivek Oberoi: ‘I Went Into Depression’
While Vivek did not name Aishwarya, he stated that even his personal life went for a toss. “Apart from that, my personal life was completely in a mess. I went into depression, and just like any ‘mama’s boy’, I went to my mother and cried a lot. I asked the ‘Why me?’ question a lot. All she said was, ‘Did you ever ask yourself that question when you were winning awards, making films, and getting followed by fans?’” he said.
Vivek Oberoi’s Work Front
Vivek Oberoi will soon be seen in Masti 4. Also starring Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani, the film marks the fourth installment of the franchise and will bring back the trio whose comic timing has been the backbone of the series since 2004.
