Firing At Rohit Shetty’s Residence
For the unversed, a firing incident was reported outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence in Mumbai on February 1, between around 12:30 am and 1:00 am, triggering concern across the film industry. The 5 accused involved in the Rohit Shetty firing case have reportedly been slapped with MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999) as they were produced before the special court. On Wednesday, the police custody of the five arrested accused ended, but now the police have imposed MCOCA against all the arrested accused and in such a case, all the accused were presented in the special MCOCA court. The special court remanded all the five accused in police custody till February 17, 2026.
With multiple actors receiving threats in recent weeks, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has now formally stepped in. The film workers’ body has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking an urgent meeting to address growing security concerns across the entertainment industry. The federation said the repeated incidents raise serious questions about whether the current security framework is adequate.
