Young opening batter Abhishek Sharma entered his name in the history books on Wednesday, September 24, by becoming the third cricketer from India to achieve more than 900 rating points in the ICC T20I

batter’s rankings. The 25-year-old left-handed batter from Punjab, who scored 74 runs from 39 balls against Pakistan in Dubai on September 21, has 907 rating points to his credit in the latest ICC T20I batter’s rankings released on Wednesday, September 24.

Before him, only Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have managed to achieve more than 900 rating points in the ICC T20I batter’s rankings from India. Surya’s career-best rating points in T20Is are 912, whereas Kohli’s best rating points are 909.

The overall record of best rating points in T20Is is in the name of England’s Dawid Malan. The left-handed batter achieved a career-best rating of 919 on December 1, 2020.

Overall, a total of six batters have managed to breach the 900-rating mark in the ICC T20I batter’s rankings. The other two players from the above-discussed four are Aaron Finch of Australia and Babar Azam of Pakistan.

Abhishek will next be seen in action for Team India on Wednesday evening against Bangladesh. The Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s match between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

If India manage to get the better of Bangladesh on Wednesday, then Suryakumar Yadav’s men will confirm their place in the final, and Sri Lanka will get knocked out of the ongoing tournament.
