Before Mandhana, the record of scoring the fastest 50 for India in WODIs was in the name of Richa Ghosh. During the India-New Zealand match in Queenstown, Ghosh crossed the 50-run mark in 26 balls.

The world record for scoring the fastest 50 in WODIs is in the name of West Indies batter Deandra Dottin. Dottin crossed the 50-run mark in just 20 balls against Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
