on Sunday, and the duo left fans in awe with their jugalbandi. Their act was met with roaring cheers and applause, and videos of their performance went viral on Instagram. Now, Arijit has shared his first post on social media after announcing that he is quitting playback singing. He shared a note thanking Anoushka Shankar, praising her music, and shared that performing with her was a ‘beautiful experience’.
Arijit Singh Pens A Note To Thank Anoushka Shankar After Their Performance
On Monday, Arijit Singh took to his Instagram stories to share a note for Anoushka Shankar that read, “Thank you Anoushka Shankar for having me on stage last night in Kolkata. I’ve always adored your music; it listens, it speaks, it stays. Playing alongside you is always a beautiful experience, and one I look forward to every time. Grateful for the music, the moments and the generosity you bring to every note. Special Thanks to @bickramghoshofficial.” Reacting to his Instagram story, the sitarist wrote, “Humbled beyond belief @arijitsingh.”
About Arijit Singh And Anoushka Shankar’s Performance
A viral video clip showed the crowd hooting and cheering for Arijit as Anoushka invites him on stage. Coming on stage, Arijit, while interacting with the audience, said, “I am very nervous. Thank you for having me.” The singer first performed Maya Bhora Raati, a composition by Anoushka’s father, the late maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, accompanied by Anoushka on sitar and percussionist-composer Bickram Ghosh. The duo then performed a duet of Traces of You, a song Anoushka co-created with her half-sister, American singer Norah Jones.
Following the performance, Arijit also mentioned visiting Anoushka at her home, where they collaborated on composing a song together.
Arijit Singh’s Retirement From Playback Singing
Arijit Singh took to his Instagram on January 27 and announced that he would be stepping back from playback singing. He wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
“God has been really kind to me. I am a fan of good music and, in the future, will be learning more and doing more on my own as a small little artist. Thanks again for all your support,” he further shared in a tweet on his private account.
