Today, the UP government unveiled the 2026 Budget, placing a significant emphasis on the youth, girl students, and the education sector. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the administration
has rolled out several new schemes and major announcements aimed at the youth, including the creation of 10 lakh jobs, the establishment of 14 new medical colleges, 3 new universities, and various other initiatives such as scooters for girls.
The Yogi government plans to generate 10 lakh new jobs through this budget, addressing both the government and private sectors. Various skill development and startup schemes are designed to provide employment opportunities for the youth.
Furthermore, a new initiative, the Chief Minister’s Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign, has been introduced to support young individuals in starting their own businesses. An allocation of Rs 1,000 crore has been made for this scheme, encouraging the establishment of new enterprises by young entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister’s Youth Self-Employment Scheme, also newly introduced, has been allocated Rs 225 crore. This scheme will offer loans, subsidies, and training to youth for self-employment opportunities.
Establishment Of 16 New Medical Colleges
The budget prioritises medical education, with plans for new medical colleges in the remaining 16 districts under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. ARs 1,023 crore has been proposed for setting up and running 14 new medical colleges.
The number of MBBS seats has increased from 4,540 in 2017 to 12,800, and PG seats have risen from 1,221 to 4,995 during the same period. Additionally, Rs 315 crore has been allocated for the Cancer Institute in Lucknow.
A total provision of Rs 14,997 crore is proposed for medical education.
Scooty Scheme For Girls
The Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme aims to facilitate the commuting of meritorious female students to colleges and universities. A budget of Rs 400 crore has been set aside to provide scooters to eligible female students, ensuring their transportation needs are met.
Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme
To link youth with skill development and employment, Rs 40 crore has been allocated for the Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme. This scheme will offer internships and skill training to the youth.
Establishment Of Three New Universities
To bolster higher education, the creation of three new universities has been announced, with each university receiving a provision of Rs 50 crore:
– Mother Vindhyavasini University (Mirzapur) in Vindhyachal Division
– Guru Jambheshwar University (Moradabad) in Moradabad Division
– Maa Pateshwari University (Balrampur) in Devipatan Mandal
Additionally, Rs 21 crore has been earmarked for the establishment of Swami Shukdevanand University in Shahjahanpur.
This year’s budget is particularly focused on new programmes for the youth, employment, education, and skill development.
