Vikrant Massey is about to face a watershed moment in his career as he prepares to accept the prestigious National Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in 12th Fail. The award not only
honours his craft, but also his extraordinary journey. In the latest, Vikrant spoke about a turning point in his life when he worked on Mirzapur and its release changed the course of his career.
In a candid interview with Nipun Marya on the iQOO Quest Talk podcast, he remembered how the cast, which included Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, and Rasika Dugal, approached the project as if it were any other, enjoying their time on set without realising how successful it would become. Talking about the show’s popularity, he said, “It was a first of its kind, you know. The OTT platforms had just started blooming, ek naya model test ho raha tha. And it was just a bunch of boys who went out there and had fun, who wanted to tell a good story.”
Vikrant Massey’s On Being Overwhelmed By Fan Reactions
Vikrant was quite overwhelmed by the reaction once the show went live. On the day Mirzapur premiered at midnight, he was filming Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi (2019) in Lucknow. He said, “Raat ko 12 baje yeh show aa gaya tha. Mai Lucknow meh shoot kar raha hun, mai set peh pauchca hun, pura din maine shoot kar liya hai. Aap maanenge nahi, un 12 ghanto meh meri zindagi badal gayi.” He mentioned that a huge crowd of fans waited for him outside the set as everyone found out he was shooting there.
Vikrant Massey’s Upcoming Projects
Looking ahead, Vikrant has several intriguing initiatives planned. He will play spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the worldwide thriller White, which begins filming in August 2025. Vikrant was recently seen in Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, opposite newcomer Shanaya Kapoor and others. Santosh Singh directed this love story based on Ruskin Bond’s book. Vikrant Massey has previously demonstrated his acting abilities in numerous films and television shows. In 2024, he appeared in four consecutive productions – Blackout, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, Sector 36, and The Sabarmati Report – for which he received widespread acclaim.
