World Tour Halted
Yogesh Alekari's global adventure, which had already taken him through 17 countries, was disrupted when his KTM 390 Adventure was stolen in Wollaton Park,
Nottingham, on August 28. Alekari, a full-time content creator with over 180,000 Instagram followers and 16,000 on Facebook, was sharing his travel experiences online before the incident. The theft brought his progress to a halt, leaving him temporarily stranded. The Nottinghamshire Police initiated an investigation into the theft, and a suspect, an 18-year-old man, was later apprehended in Doncaster on suspicion of motor vehicle theft and other offenses. The loss of his motorcycle presented a significant challenge to Alekari, who had spent four years preparing for this expedition. The bike, purchased in April, had carried him across Iran, Nepal, China, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan before his arrival in Europe.
A Stroke of Luck
Following the theft, Alekari received considerable support from various sources, including offers of help, clothing, and replacement motorbikes. Among these, the Off Road Centre in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, made a significant pledge to get him back on the road. This offer came after the news of his predicament gained international attention, prompting the UK-based garage to step in. The Off Road Centre's decision to donate a new bike came as a surprise, with Alekari expressing his gratitude and amazement at the support. The garage's generosity lifted his spirits and set the stage for the continuation of his global expedition. Alekari plans to continue his journey through approximately 30 more countries, with hopes to head south through Europe to Africa.
Journey Resumed Soon
The Off Road Centre completed their work, providing Alekari with the means to continue his journey. Alekari expressed his gratitude to the center, emphasizing how they had exceeded his expectations. Although he collected the new motorbike, the process of resuming his travels will take a little longer because his passport and license were also stolen. Necessary paperwork will delay his immediate departure. Alekari has a clear plan to continue his adventure through 30 more countries. The goal is to travel south through Europe to Africa. The new bike provides Alekari with the opportunity to make a fresh start and pursue the completion of his global tour. He is excited to get back on the road as soon as possible, packing his bike with the anticipation of heading toward Africa and beyond.
