Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi's 3 Idiots is one of the most enjoyed Bollywood films. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film was released in 2009.
Co-starring Boman Irani, Mona Singh and Kareena Kapoor, the movie was well-received upon its theatrical release. Several years down the line, there has been a strong buzz about a sequel to 3 Idiots. Media reports suggest that Aamir, R Madhavan and Sharman will return for the second installment. Now, in a media interview, Boman Irani has revealed whether the 3 Idiots sequel would be made.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Boman stated that there's no concrete information about the 3 Idiots sequel. However, he admitted, "Whatever Rajkumar Hirani [director] chooses to do, I’ll be there for him." Apart from that, the senior actor spoke about his upcoming film, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2.
Dibakar Banerjee, who directed the first installment, hasn't returned to direct the second part. Talking about the film's sequel, Boman added, "The new director is doing a fantastic job. The spirit of the story is intact."
What Sharman Joshi said about 3 Idiots sequel?
Besides Boman, Sharman had earlier reacted to the rumours of his film's sequel. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the actor stated that there's been buzz about the 3 Idiots sequel on more than a couple of occasions. Recalling the last reports surfaced, Sharman mentioned that it was for an ad campaign. That said, the actor hoped that this time the speculation turned out to be true.

Written by Abhijat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani, 3 Idiots followed the story of three friends at an Indian engineering college. As for Boman, he played the role of Viru Sahastrabuddhe.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Boman Irani was recently seen in filmmaker Maruthi's The Raja Saab. He shared screen space with Prabhas in the film, which was released on January 9, 2026. Unfortunately, the movie received mixed to negative reviews from critics and audiences. It got a lukewarm response at the box office.
