in Bollywood. Fans of the comedy classic have been waiting for an update since it was first confirmed. Last year, the project hit a roadblock when Rawal exited midway; however, the veteran actor and the makers have since resolved their differences. In a fresh development, the film has once again landed in legal trouble, this time over its rights. Hera Pheri 3 In Legal Trouble Producer GP Vijayakumar has alleged that he acquired the complete rights to the Hera Pheri franchise from the original producers of the Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking long before the sequel was made. The managing director of Seven Arts International stated that he was informed Firoz Nadiadwala had only been granted permission to make one Hindi adaptation, but went on to produce a second instalment. According to the petition filed earlier this week, Nadiadwala was not authorised to create a sequel or prequel or use the characters. Why Has South Producer Moved To Court? Hera Pheri sequel released in 2006. Why was no action taken earlier? In an interview with Hindustan Times, he explained that the first film was directed by Priyadarshan, with whom they shared a close association. Meanwhile, the second was helmed by Neeraj Vora but the copyright holders at the time failed to notice the issue. He said they realised much later that there had been a violation and deception but initially chose to let it go. He added that when they later planned to produce another Hindi version and approached Akshay, they discovered that Nadiadwala had sold the rights to the superstar's Cape of Good Films. This prompted them to send a legal notice and eventually move to court. What Did Hera Pheri Makers Say? The report quoted director Priyadarshan as saying that he had "no idea" about the legal action. Meanwhile, Akshay’s spokesperson stated that they had purchased the rights to the film from Nadiadwala. The latter is yet to issue an official statement.
