Emraan Hashmi has finally begun shooting for most anticipated film of his career - Awarapan 2. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and backed by Vishesh Films, the
much-awaited sequel has gone on floors, with the first shooting schedule underway in Bangkok. Taking to Instagram, the makers teased the first on-set pic, with a caption that gave instant nostalgia to fans. The first instalment, Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, released in 2007 and couldn't do much at the box office. But, over the years, as more and more people watched the film, love started pouring in and the film eventually attained a cult status. Emraan's portrayal of Shivam struck an emotional chord with the audience and now, the journey of Shivam will continue in the Awarapan 2.

Disha Patani has been cast opposite Emraan in the sequel.
Awarapan 2 release date
After much public demand, Awarapan 2 was finally announced on Emraan's birthday earlier this year. The actor has promised that the sequel will bring back the era of soulful music. Even though Mohit Suri is not returning for the sequel, the excitement levels are high. The film marks Emraan's reunion with Vishesh Films after a while.
Written by Bilal Siddiqui, Awarapan 2 is slated to release on April 3, 2026. Meanwhile, Emraan will next be seen in Junglee Pictures' Haq, co-starring Yami Gautam. Based on the Shah Bano case, the courtroom drama will release on November 7, 2025.
