Streamlining Civic Services
Mumbai's civic administration is on a mission to modernize its operations and improve citizen engagement through innovative technological solutions. A
central piece of this transformation is the development of an Integrated Law Management System (ILMS), designed to significantly accelerate the resolution of ongoing legal cases that often cause delays in civic projects. To enhance public interaction and service delivery, a common dashboard is being established, allowing residents to conveniently submit civic complaints and track their progress. Complementing these efforts, a sophisticated 3D GIS map of Mumbai is in the works. This advanced mapping technology will be instrumental in visualizing, conceptualizing, and effectively implementing various urban planning initiatives, ensuring a more integrated and efficient approach to city development and management.
Boosting Water Security
Ensuring a consistent and adequate water supply for Mumbai's burgeoning population is a top priority, with significant investments being directed towards water infrastructure. A key project involves expediting the construction of a desalination plant in Manori, which will have the capacity to treat 200 million liters of saline water daily, making it suitable for consumption. Plans are also in motion to potentially expand this plant's capacity to 400 MLD, a move that promises to substantially increase Mumbai's daily water availability and fulfill electoral promises. Furthermore, the city is advancing its sewage treatment capabilities by constructing seven state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). These STPs will collectively recycle an impressive 2,464 MLD of water per day, thereby significantly augmenting the overall water supply available to the city. These initiatives collectively aim to secure Mumbai's water future.
Infrastructure for Flow
To guarantee the efficient distribution of the enhanced water supply, the civic authorities are prioritizing the acceleration of critical water conveyance tunnel projects. Specifically, the focus is on the rapid construction of tunnels connecting Amar Mahal to Trombay, and Kasheli to Mulund. The completion of these tunnels is crucial for increasing the volume of water that can be supplied to Mumbai, thereby mitigating potential disruptions and reducing the likelihood of water loss through pipeline leaks. By upgrading this essential infrastructure, the city aims to create a more robust and reliable water delivery network, ensuring that the increased water production translates directly into improved supply for all residents. This proactive approach to infrastructure development is fundamental to the city's long-term water security.
