The Collision
A routine drive in Bengaluru took an unpleasant turn when a cab, driven by 47-year-old Ahmed Gurkar, was involved in a collision with a two-wheeler. The
two-wheeler, carrying two young women, collided with the rear left side of the cab, causing both riders to fall onto the road and also damaging the vehicle. Following the impact, the driver, Mr. Gurkar, assisted the fallen riders. However, an attempt to discuss the damage incurred by his vehicle led to a severe escalation of the situation.
Assault and Resistance
The situation rapidly deteriorated as the two young women, identified as 19-year-old Liza from Bannerghatta Road and 18-year-old Amran Mathew from Koramangala, allegedly began to hurl abuses at the cab driver. According to Mr. Gurkar's complaint, the situation intensified when they resorted to physical violence, using their helmets as weapons to assault him. The aggressive behavior extended to bystanders who attempted to intervene, with the students reportedly turning their aggression towards them as well. The incident drew the attention of passersby, leading to a call to the police helpline.
Police Intervention and Booking
Upon receiving the alert, officers from the Hulimavu police station arrived at the scene. The intoxicated students continued their disruptive behavior, even resisting attempts by the police to escort them into a Hoysala patrol vehicle. After a brief struggle, they were taken to the Hulimavu police station. Their parents were subsequently summoned. A case has been registered against the two students, who are reportedly college students. Despite the serious nature of the charges, they were released in the early hours of Saturday after being issued notices.
